Welcome to CSUs Communication Program
Communication courses emphasize both theory and hands-on work. Both Print Journalism and Broadcast Media majors are required to complete at least one internship at a newspaper, radio station, or television station or at other appropriate industry. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the professional organizations and other related activities that exist in the program.
The Communication Program is one of the five disciplines within the Department of Humanities. The Cosby Mass Communication Center is a multi-million dollar facility housing radio and television studios, multitrack recording studio, classrooms, and a journalism lab that houses state-of-the-art desktop publishing and nonlinear editing systems.
For its communication majors, the department offers two different curricula tailored to specific professional interests in mass communication. There are approximately 180 students in the communication program pursuing one or more degrees in two areas broadcast media and print journalism. The discipline continues to attract many majors who find both the course work and the internship program to be challenging and rewarding.
